How to prepare offline reading and troubleshoot access

Treat offline reading as preparation you can verify, rather than a promise attached to an install button.

Complete the preparation while online

ReadVeranda saves two different things: application resources in Cache Storage, and books with their reading data in IndexedDB. A complete application cache cannot supply a book you have not imported. Likewise, a saved book still needs the reader’s code and PDF or EPUB dependencies.

  1. Connect to the website address you intend to use and import each required book into that browser’s library.
  2. Open App & offline. Wait for confirmed offline readiness, rather than relying on the browser’s connection icon.
  3. Open an imported book once, check its illustrations or pages, and download a library backup before travelling or making storage changes.

Keep the same browser and address

A website origin includes the scheme, hostname and port. Changing from one domain to another, from HTTP to HTTPS, or to another local port means a different storage area. Browser profiles are separate too. Installation may open a convenient window, but it does not merge these libraries or enable cloud sync.

Language switching changes the public or app path under the same origin, so it does not create a new library. Prepared language resources can be used offline. Links to external sites still need a connection.

Recover carefully

If offline opening fails, reconnect first and revisit App & offline. Let preparation complete and review any reported storage error. A full disk, blocked storage or a private-browsing session may prevent durable saving. Export available data before freeing space; deleting website data removes the books as well as the application cache.

When an update is ready, finish imports and notes before choosing Save & update now. The application waits for pending saves. If an update cannot install, the previous cached application should remain available, but an independent backup is still essential. An installed PWA is not a guarantee against browser eviction.
