How to open EPUB and PDF files in your browser

You need a supported file, a current browser and permission to read the document. An account or upload is not required.

Start with the actual ebook file

An EPUB usually ends in .epub and a PDF in .pdf. A web page saved under one of those names is not a valid ebook, and an ACSM file is a license or delivery instruction rather than the publication itself. Obtain the real supported document from a source you are authorized to use. ReadVeranda does not remove DRM or convert a license into a book.

  1. Choose Open book and select your EPUB or PDF. You can also add several files from My library.
  2. Wait for import to finish. ReadVeranda checks the file and reports individual errors; duplicate content is detected independently of the filename.
  3. Open the book from your library. Use chapter navigation for EPUB or the page field and thumbnails for PDF.

Match the controls to the format

In a reflowable EPUB, text size and spacing change how much fits on a page. A saved location follows the content as the page changes. Fixed-layout EPUBs preserve designed pages and may disable typography or passage tools.

A PDF preserves its page dimensions. Use fit and zoom rather than expecting an EPUB-style font-size control. On a small screen, fit to width or continuous scrolling may be more comfortable than a spread. PDF content keeps its original colors even when the surrounding interface is dark.

Check reading tools and save a copy

Try Search with a word visibly present in the text. If a PDF is a scan or has restrictive permissions, no extractable text may be available; this does not mean its page image is unreadable. Bookmarks remain useful when search or selection is unavailable.

Return through Library when finished. Your position is saved locally, alongside supported annotations. Before clearing website storage or moving browsers, download a library backup and keep the original file. A browser library does not automatically follow you to another device.
